One of our most innovative rehabilitative programs is the Traffic Police Assistant Program. This program, initiated by ECHO in cooperation with the Dept. of Police, aims at metamorphosing juvenile delinquents and neglected children into responsible members of society. ECHO has trained more than 150 TPA's since the launch of the program in 2002. Children in the age group of 16 to 20 years are given intensive orientation and training in traffic rules and regulations, basic information of the city, first aid and community dynamics.  ECHO's first female Traffic Police Assistant batch
As Traffic Police Assistants the inmates gain dignity, respect and self-worth next to financial independence. The earlier law breakers now become law enforcers!
Traffic Police Assistant at the crossroads January 26th 2006 was a milestone in the history of the TPA program. Appreciating the work done by the TPA boys, the Govt. of Karnataka invited them to participate in the Republic Day's Parade in Bangalore. This was an exalted recognition to our boys. Another recent special event in our TPA program was the capping ceremony of the 7th batch of TPAs. For the first time in history the batch included also 12 girls form Children's Home to be trained as TPAs!
