  National Child Labour Project (NCLP)

The Indian Constitution speaks of the right to education to all children. Though there are legislations to combat child labour, the effective execution of these laws is lacking. Through the NCLP programme, we reach out to the working children to provide basic education. This opportunity provides children to prepare themselves for the further education. It also generates interest

among the growing children to study further. The programme keeps the children away from exploitation through child labour.

The Indian Constitution speaks of the right to education to all children. Though there are legislations to combat child labour, the effective execution of these laws is lacking. It also generates interest among the growing children to study further. In association with the Central government of India ECHO had taken up a program for the dropouts and the child labors from the year2000.  Through the National Child Labour Project, we reach out to the working children to provide basic education.  This is a bridge course for one year and the children will be re-admitted in the regular school according to their age and the grasping capacity.

Right now this school is run in the ECHO’s Rehabilitation Centre, Sumanahally.  The total strength of it is 40 and these children attend the class from morning 9.30 to evening 3.30. They are provided with mid-day meal and nutrition.  This course will be a kind of prompting to the dropouts to go back to the normal schooling and it enkindles in them an eagerness to grasp things. This school stands out to be a blissful opportunity for the children to

learn the basics of education and discipline. This programme keeps the children away from exploitation through child labour
